A mild winter, for the most part, and more federal money than originally anticipated, have prompted budget officials at the State Transportation Department to revise their budget figures for the current fiscal year. MoDOT’s Herbert Wheeler says the warm weather has contributed to a longer construction season, which has pushed up overall expenditures to the tune of nearly $170-Million. He says at the same time, the amount of federal money the state receives this year has pushed up overall revenues by more than $178-Million. Wheeler says says some federal money is both a debit and a credit on the balance sheet. Wheeler says the Department has also been helped than better-than-expected state revenues. The total Transportation department budget is more than $1.97-Billion.
