Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts has won the Missouri Democrtic presidential primary quite handily over North Carolina Senator John Edwards and former Vermont Governor Howard Dean. In fact, it was part of a very big night for Kerry that saw him winning or doing well in all seven states being contested. Rick Hardy, a political science professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia, says Kerry is clearly the front-runner in this race and he proved that by winning several states and by doing well in South Carolina, where native son John Edwards pulled out a victory. The results of the primaries in Missouri have resulted in one of the Democrats getting out of the race. Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut says the people have spoken and he’s throwing in the towel. There was a Republican primary in Missouri, as well. It was won easily by President Bush who faced only token opposition.
