Will the SMS-Evansville re-match be as exciting as their first meeting on January 7? SMS head coach Barry Hinson could probably do without the drama that occurred in their 95-85 double-overtime win, but he’d sure like another victory. In that game, a couple of freshmen stepped up big for the Bears. Blake Ahern, who played at DeSmet High School in St. Louis, scored a career-high 25 points and Nathan Bilyeu, from Ozark High School, scored all six of his points in the second overtime after four players fouled out. Tonight, SMS will try to improve upon their 13-6 record overall and their 5-3 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference. They may have to do it without starting forward Tamar Maclin who missed Saturday’s game with an ankle injury. Barry Hinson wouldn’t comment on Maclin’s condition on Tuesday. Maclin averages 6.7 points and 7 rebounds per game. Evansville enters the game with a 2-14 and 1-7.
