It appears interest in Missouri’s presidential primary is picking up among Democrats running for President. North Carolina Senator John Edwards has placed a call to Governor Bob Holden, seeking his support, now that Holden’s mentor, St. Louis Congressman Richard Gephardt, has dropped out of the race. Edwards’ campaign has also contacted State Auditor Claire McCaskill, who is challenging Holden for the Democratic nomination for Governor. Holden earlier in the week got a call from former General Wesley Clark, another Democratic presidential candidate. Many Democrats had conceded Missouri to the native son candidate, until Gephardt withdrew from the race after his poor showing in Iowa. Missouri’s primary will be held February 3rd.
