Former Missouri assistant and current Eagles head coach Andy Reid fell one game short of the Super Bowl again. Philadelphia lost its third straight NFC championship game, by falling to the Panthers 14-3. Reid came to Mizzou when Bob Stull took over for Woody Widenhofer following the 1988 season. Reid remained at Mizzou until 1992 when he took an assistant coaching job at Green Bay. Carolina will take on the New England Patriots who topped the Colts 24-14. Missouri’s will be representated in the Super Bowl by Patriots defensive lineman Rick Lyle, who played at Mizzou from 1990-1993 and Panthers defensive end Mike Rucker, who is a graduate of Benton High School in St. Jopseph, Missouri.
