The Drug Enforcement Administration has filed a lawsuit against the former owner of a car seized by DEA agents last year because the agents want $33,000 stuffed behind the dashboard. The former owner is in prison for dealing cocaine. He forfeited the car when he pleaded guilty last July. But federal agents learned a month later that the air conditioner wasn’t working and when they took it in for repairs, a mechanic pulled the money out of the dashboard. The air conditioning works fine now and the DEA is filing the suit to make sure it can keep that money.
