Companies and individuals complaining that the Natural Resources Department’s regulations and licensing requirements are sometimes unreasonable are lining up behind a jproposed law that puts a leash on DNR. Senator David Klindt of Bethany says DNR should have to justify, with scientific proof, any new environmental regulation is issues. He says the agency has been working with him to write the proposed law. Natural Resources Director Steve Mahfood says his department already has started doing most of the things contained in the bill. He’s not sure a law is needed because of the changes the department has voluntarily made. But supporters of the bill say it needs to become law because any new director can roll back the things Mahfood has done.
