Attorney General Takes Action Against Deadbeat Parents
Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon has filed lawsuits to suspend the professional licenses of 19 parents who won’t pay their child support. The group includes two doctors, a certified public accountant, and even a professional wrestler. Last month, Nixon went after employers who were not withholding child support from delinquent employees. The licenses Nixon is going after belong to professionals regulated by state boards and commissions.
Farmer-Owned Cooperative Launches Beer
Beer drinkers throughout the state now have a new brew to knock back. It’s called Pony Express Beer and it’s brewed in Garden City – south of Kansas City. The beer has been test marketed for several months, but makes its official debut today. Pony Express Beer is a division of TransCon Ag – a farmer-owned cooperative. TransCon Ag’s Chris Filer says this is the first farmer-owned brewery in the United States, with 150 farm families taking part in the venture. Filer says Pony Express will vie for market share in Missouri, Kansas, Arizona, and California as well as some international locations.
