SMS announced yesterday that men’s basketball coach Barry Hinson will be back for the final year of his five-year contract and there are talks of a possible contract extension. SMS certainly exceeded expectations this season. They were picked to finish eighth in the conference and finished tied for third with a 12-6 league mark. So far, Hinson has compiled a 70-55 record in Springfield. The Bears are hoping for an NIT bid with an overall record of 17-12 this season.
