The Royals have made their first big move of the pre-season. Yesterday they gave right fielder Mark Quinn his unconditional release. This opens the door for Michael Tucker to take over in right. Quin was 1-8 at the plate this spring training. Last year Quinn played in just 23 games because of two injuries. He missed all of spring training last year recovering from cracked ribs he suffered while kung fu fighting with his brother. If no team claims him by Thursday, the Royals will offer him a minor league deal. Kansas City blasted the Cubs yesterday 14-1. Dee Brown was three for six, driving in five.
