A bipartisan group of State Senators is hoping to get to the bottom of an effort to prevent the setting up of a panel to study how the University of Missouri’s health program could be more cost effective. Senator Jim Mathewson of Sedalia spearheads efforts to streamline health program costs at the University of Missouri. And, he’s running into a lot of opposition. He says the University is trying to block efforts to help lawmakers save money. Mathweson says instead of cooperating, the University has hired a special lobbyist to try to defeat the effort.
