Congressman Richard Gephardt says it would be a mistake for legislative Republicans to cancel next year’s presidential primary in Missouri. Gephardt tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch a return to the caucus system would keep Missouri military people from taking part in the presidential selection process. Republican budget leaders have cut the $3.7-Million proposed for next year’s primary, saying the state can’t afford it. Gephardt is a presidential candidate.
