Time and time again Dick Vermeil said that 2003 would be his last season as head coach of the Chiefs. He signed a three-year contract when he joined the team and said all along that he would honor it and retire. Yesterday, Vermeil told the Missourinet the he may consider staying after the 2003 campaign if the team was headed in the right direction and if he and his wife Carole remained in good health. In his previous head coaching positions with the Eagles and Rams, Vermeil guided both teams to the Super Bowl.
