The Missouri House has given first round approval to a bill that would allow Missourians to carry concealed weapons. The legislation aims to give that right to Missourians who take part in an approved training course and who meet certain criteria. Among them: Conceal and carry licenses would only be granted to U.S. citizens at least 21 years of age, and they would have to be residents of Missouri or members of the armed forces stationed in Missouri. Anyone convicted of a felony would not be eligible for a permit. The measure needs one more positive vote in the House before it can be sent to the Senate. If it gets through the Legislature, there is still the possibility of a veto from Governor Bob Holden.
