Imagine the Governor of Missouri being called to active duty as a member of the Naval Reserves. Secretary of State Matt Blunt can imagine that. He’s the early Republican favorite candidate for Governor next year. He’s already served six months of reserve duty in England since his election as Secretary of State and knows it could happen again even if he’s elected Governor. Blunt has told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch he’s trying to get his status changed so that he is a so-called “drilling reservist.” That would keep him in the reserves but insulate him from a call-up.
