Governor Bob Holden sees the Legislature falling short of raising the money needed to pay the state’s bills through the end of June. The House and Senate hope to agree on an amount next week. Holden says he’s ready to order $82-Million in cuts to colleges and universities and to local school districts if the Legislature doesn’t budge from the $150-Million maximum amount majority leaders will support. The House has approved a $150-Million package to help the budget shortfall. The Senate is still deciding what approach it wants to take, but majority leaders in the Senate don’t want to go above that $150-Million figure.
