A drunk driver who hit and killed a 2-year-old girl in downtown St. Louis in June of 2001 has been sentenced to seven years in prison. At his sentencing, Salvatore DiCarlo of Des Peres told a St. Louis Circuit Judge he wishes he could have died that night instead of the child. Emily Orban died shortly after DiCarlo’s pickup truck hit a car and then crashed head-on into a minivan in which the young girl was riding. DiCarlo had pleaded guilty, last month, to involuntary manslaughter and three counts of second-degree assault.
