We’re coming out of the coldest night of the year and a wind chill advisory greets us. Lowest lows as of 6 o’clock this morning: eight below in Kansas City and St. Joseph. Just about everybody is in single digits: as far south as Cape Giradeau where it was 5 and Poplar Bluff where it was 7 and West Plains, where it was two. Worst wind chills: minus 25 at Kansas City International Airport, with several other places reporting windchills of minus 20 or worse. At 6 a.m., the wind chill made it feel as if it was 14 below zero in West Plains. The National Weather Service says highs today will stay in the single digits in north Missouri, reach the teens in the south, and lows tonight will be five above to five below.
