A St. Louis prosecutor thinks prisoners should pay a penalty for asking for DNA tests if they know they are guilty of a crime. Prosecutor Jennifer Joyce has told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch the State Probation Board should be able to act against a prisoner whose DNA test confirms the prisoner’s guilt. She also suggests prisoners whose guilt is confirmed pay for the tests out of their prison bank accounts. Joyce’s comments have come after DNA tests have confirmed guilt in two rape cases.
