The former Arkansas lawyer who stole seven letters by author William Faulkner from Southeast Missouri State University has drawn a seven-year prison term. Robert Hardin Smith had pleaded guilty. His plea bargain shortened the possible sentence by 13 years. The letters have been recovered. Smith has a record of stealing historic documents.
