A call is issued for increased state spending on the life sciences. It comes from several speakers attending a Jefferson City conference on life sciences. Among those taking part – Elson Floyd, the new President of the University of Missouri. Floyd is pleased there is support for this idea from both Governor Bob Holden and the Legislature. Governor Holden has said investing in the life sciences can give Missouri a comparative advantage to build its future as a “knowledge state” in researh capacity, economic development, and a highly skilled workforce.
