As the possible list of challengers for Governor in 2004 grows, at least one man is throwing his hat out of the ring. Republicans being mentioned as possible candidates vying for Governor Bob Holden’s seat in 2004 include Representative Catherine Hanaway and Secretary of State Matt Blunt. State Auditor Claire McCaskill and State Attorney General Jay Nixon have been mentioned as Democrats considering a run. So, will fellow Democrat Lieutenant Governor Joe Maxwell add his name to the list of possible candidates? No. And Maxwell points out to anyone, Democrat or Republican, who might consider challenging Holden in 2004 he will be ready to back the Governor.
