Starting tomorrow, the late Canada Goose hunting season opens for the northern two-thirds of the state. The season continues for about a month. The southern third of Missouri has been open for some time. Andy Raedeke with the State Conservation Department says most of the geese taken during this late season are ones that migrate from northern areas, as opposed to the “resident” Canadas that live in Missouri year ’round. He says there was a late spring in the nesting areas up north this year. And, Raedeke says that means not as many young geese that are usually a bit easier for the taking. But, he still expects plenty of opportunities for the hunters who get out and scout their areas thoroughly.
