The Chiefs playoff hopes all but vanished after yesterday’s 31-24 loss to the Broncos. Kansas City was held scoreless in the first half, and trailed 14-0 at the break. The Chiefs rallied for 24 points in the second half, thanks to Dante Hall and Priest Holmes. Hall had touchdown receptions of 49 and 75 yards, while Holmes rushed for 161 yards. His 56-yard scamper in the fourth quarter set up Mike Cloud’s four-yard touchdown run. But Holmes injured his hip on the play and never returned. The Chiefs trailed by seven and had one final drive to score and tie the game with an extra point. Trent Green’s 25-yard strike to the end zone fell incomplete as time expired and the game ended. The game took a physical toll on the team. Along with Holmes, Tony Richardson and Mark Boerigter both suffered shoulder injuries. The Chiefs are 7-7.
