They may not exist yet, but when Springfield gets a minor league baseball team, they’ll be called the Patriots. Springfield Businessman John Q. Hammons has filed an official claim with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office for the name. Hammons says Springfield will have a double-a team by 2004 that will play down town.
