State auditors have found additional problems with the distribution of child support payments, triggering more audits of the State Division of Child Support Enforcement. In November, the Division distributed 7,500 duplicate checkstotalling 1.2 Million. Auditors investigating the problemhave discovered that in January duplicate payments of about $64,000 were distributed in St. Louis. State Auditor Claire McCaskill, who has written the Division suggestingchanges. McCaskill has also ordered two other audits of Child Support Enforcement to determine whether improvements in the management and oversight of collections are needed. McCaskill believes the division has straightened out the problems it had earlier and that it can correct the latest problem. She says it must be corrected.
