The first six Blackhawk helicopters for the Missouri National Guard have arrived at the Guard’s headquarters in Jefferson City this afternoon. They replace the Vietnam War-era “Hueys.” The aircraft that came in are 15 to 20years old themselves, but Colonel Mike Pace, the state’s army aviation officer says the helicopters are new to the Guard. Pace says the extra power gives them the ability to do more as well as the airframe matching what the regular Army is using. The helicopters will be housed outdoors for now until hangar facilities can be built.
