Two weeks ago when it was announced the State Department of Social Services would have to cut $30-Million from the budget by the end of June, some groups protested it would be a major blow to the citizens who depend the Department’s services. But Social Services’s Pam Victor says there won’t be a cut in actual services to Missourians. Victor says $20-Million was a one-time payment to nursing homes to make improvements and expansions to facilities. The other $10-Million goes to hospitals and will just be deferred for two weeks so it can be paid after the first of July in the next fiscal year. Net result: No actual cuts.
