Governor Bob Holden has been sent a proposed law that adds clergy members to the list of people supposed to report suspicions of child abuse. The idea originated with a coaltion of clergy members and church organizations. It’s part of a bigger children’s protection bill. Senate Sponsor Betty Sims was surprised the coalition came forward. She says the proposal tries to avoid problems with the confidentiality of communications between clery and laymen.
