Higher prices at the gas pumps might be unwelcome news for your budget, but the state’s ethanol producers hope it will help keep their product profitable. John Eggleston, the president of an ethanol cooperative in Macon inNortheast Missouri, says the biggest challenge has been keeping supply high. Eggleston says the more ethanol producers have been able to put into the market, the more the demand increases for the alternative fuel becausefuelers want to buy in bulk to keep their pumps flowing without interruption.
