A $19-Billion state budget has been approved and sent to Governor Holden. But House leadership claims the budget needs $300-Million to be balanced. House Speaker Jim Kreider of Nixa says the unwillingness of Republicans to allow Governor Holden to use Rainy Day Fund dollars to cover the current budget shortfall will have wide-ranging ramifications in next year’s budget. The primary revenue-producer will be the elimination of incentives andbenefits given to businesses. That bill also contains an increase in casino taxes, that members of the Senate have been cool towards.
