The effort of St. Louis’ Union Station shopping center to ban clothing considered “gang-related” has produced protests by about 150 people marching through the shopping area, many of them wearing the banned clothing. Demostrators say the dress code is racist. The mall says the policy is intended to make the place safer and applies to any race. The policy has come to a head, if you will, because rap musician Nelly was asked to leave last week because he was wearing a do-rag, a piece of headgear.
