The Senate has given first-round approval to the so-called stadium bill, which would provide money for a new downtown ballpark in St. Louis, stadium improvements in Kansas City, and convention centers in Springfield and Branson. It took 17 hours of debate over two days before the measure passed. The bill now needs another positive vote in the Senate before it can move onto the House. Final approval from both chambers is needed before the measure can be sent to Governor Holden for his signature.
