Employees with the State Department of Corrections have voted overwhelmingly to get out of their union – the American Federation of State, County, and MunicipalEmployees (AFSCME). Union spokesman Andy English alleges there was intimidation and he vows to challenge the results of the vote with the State Board of Mediation. The final vote tally was 2,879 to 1,503 against representation by AFSCME. It was a mail-in vote, with the Missouri Correction Officers Association leading the effort to oust the union. It claims the union has done little to help its members.
