The task certainly won’t be easy for SMS Athletic Director Bill Rowe. His job? Find someone to replace a legend. He and his staff are already on the lookout for a new Women’s Basketball Coach, after Cheryl Burnett’s departure on Monday. Rowe told the Missourinet that the University wants to be careful in the selection precess but added, “…we know we can’t take a long, long time because we have recruits out there.” Rowe also said that while female candidates have the inside edge on being the next Lady Bears coach, they will consider any qualified applicant for the job. Burnett was at the helm of the program taking SMS to two Final Fours.
