The Environmental Protection Agency has found about a dozen yards in the southwest Missouri town of Aurora that have high levels of lead. An agency spokesman says cleanup work could start this summer, if there’s money available. About 100 yards had been checked in the last couple of months. Aurora used to be a big area for lead and zinc mining. But the last mine closed almost 50 years ago.
