The Cardinals couldn’t get it done against Randy Johnson and the Diamdonbacks, losing 5-3 in Phoenix on Tuesday. St. Louis starter Bud Smith allowed four runs in 5 and 1/3 innings of work. He got the loss, dropping to 0-1. Johnson wasn’t that much better, but got more support. He gave up 3 runs over seven innings and also drove in a run. The Cards never led. Their only offensive bright spot was Albert Pujols, who drove in two runs. The Cards and D’backs wrap up their three game series with an early 5:05 start. Matt Morris faces Curt Schilling. Both pitchers are 3-0 with ERA’s under 2.00.
