A half-dozen State Senators say the Legislature has no business helping baseball owners in Kansas City and St. Louis build or maintain stadiums until Major League Baseball does something for itself. Rolla Senator Sarah Steelman is the ringleader of the small group urging the Legislature to put a moratorium on all stadium fundinglegislation until Major League Baseball carries out recommendations by a special Commissioner’s commission. That Blue Ribbon panel has recommended salary caps and revenue sharing to restore competitive balance in Major League Baseball. Steelman says the legislature doesn’t have time to debate stadium aid anyway. Steelman says new stadiums won’t make teams competitive, only baseball reforms will do that. Steelman’s resolution has been sent to a committee for study.
