Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis are conducting a study on osteoporosis in children and whether osteoporosis treatments given to adults would be beneficial, rather than harmful, if given to kids. Doctor Rebecca Green, the study’s principal investigator, says the children most at risk for osteoporosis are those who undergoing steroid therapy. Adult osteoporosis medications alter bone density. It’s feared the altering of bone density in children might impair growth.
