The Missouri House has passed most of the elements of a $19-Billion state budget. State Representatives worked late into the night Wednesday and Thursday, and finally completed work Friday morning. This version of the budget has now been sent to the Senate. The House will now have to deal with the most contentious element – Governor Holden’s request that lawmakers dip into the Rainy Day Fund. Failure to approve that request would leave the budget approximately $66-Million in the red. Two thirds majorities of both chambers are needed for lawmakers to take money out of that Fund.
