A special commission to find ways to keep us from getting fat and to help those of us who get there anyay, has won approval from the State Senate. The Senate’s only doctor, Marvin Singleton of Seneca, hopes the state commission on the prevention and management of obesitystarts something good. If the House and Senate agree, the commission would have a two-year run. The Legislature could continue it with a new law passed in 2004.
