Catholic Church officials in Missouri are looking at where to go from here following allegations of priests sexually abusing children. Bishop John Gaydos of the Jefferson City diocese, one of the areas where new allegations have come to light, admits this has been a trying time. Gaydos wants to make sure people understand the abuses now coming to light happened before church officals made changes to their policies in dealing with this sort of problem. Those changes include removing theoffender from his duties, complying with the law, and dealing openly with any problems. But the bishop says the Church will continue to review the policy to make sure it does what it’s supposed to do. And Gaydos believes the church will be able to come out of these tryingtimes… perhaps better than before.•
