Legislation is being considered by the Missouri House – legislation that would create an amendment requiring a vote of the people before money could be spent on major league sports franchises. St. Louis area Representative Jim Murphy is the author of the legislation. Murphy – a vocal opponent of the St. Louis stadium proposal – says this would affect stadium projects in Kansas City as well as St. Louis. Minor league sports teams would not be included in this legislation. The bill is not expected to gain any traction … and is not likely to move out of committee.
