A former Missourian gets a heavy dose of criticism from a current U.S. Senator from Missouri at a Capitol Hill hearing into the Enron collapse. Columbia native Kenneth Lay has appeared before the Senate Commerce Committee, refusing to answer any questions regarding the Enron bankruptcy. Committee member Jean Carnahan says the one former Enron executive to testify didn’t satisfy anyone’s concerns with what he had to say. Carnahan says she’s disappointed that Lay chose to take the FifthAmendment, instead of trying to help former Enron employees and shareholders learn some answers.
