“I hope for salvation, I hope that mercy and forgiveness that I have asked for will suffice, praise Allah.” Those were the final words of convicted killer Michael Owsley, put to death just after midnight at the state prison in Potosi. Owsley sat on Missouri’s Death Row for more than seven years for a 1993 murder over drug money in Kansas City. Owsley’s execution was watched only by a friend, a prison volunteer and state witnesses. Owsley is the second person put to death this year, and the 55th since Missouri reinstated the death penalty in 1988.   Additional information about Michael Owsley and capital punishment in Missouri >>
