The Missouri Board of Education has unveiled the framework for a possible state takeover of the troubled Kansas City School District. Education officials are stressing this is only a precautionary measure. The Board of Education insists putting together a framework for statetakeover of the district does NOT mean a takeover is a done deal. In fact, General Counsel Mark Van Zandt says the Board simply wants to have an administrative board in place just in case. The Distict will lapse on June 30th unless it receives provisional accreditation by then. An announcement is possible in April. The Board of Education wants it made clear that if the state assumes control, a “business as usual” atmosphere will prevail with employeesgetting paychecks and students attending classes.
