The Ford Motor Company has announced a series of job cuts and plant closures. And, the Hazelwood assembly plant in St. Louis County is among the targets of Ford’s downsizing move. 2,600 people work at the facility, which makes sport utility vehicles. It is scheduled to close late next year. The Claycomo Ford plant, near Kansas City, remains open. It employs 6,000 people. Governor Bob Holden has expressed his concern with the Ford announcement. He plans to meet with Ford executives in Detroit to talk over alternatives to closing the Hazelwood facility.
