Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation will ask for half as much in highway bonds as they had originally proposed. Highway commissioners approved a plan that states if the economy remains sluggish, only about $100-million to $250-million in bonds will be sought for the fiscal year starting in July. If the economy turns upward, $500-million could be requested.
