The pieces are being put into place for the state’s second longest rails-to-trails conversion. The Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad has donated almost six miles of abandoned railroad to the Ozark Greenways. The old right-of-way is between Springfield and Willard. Eventually, the Frisco Highline Trail will link Springfield and Bolivar and be more than 36 miles long. The longest rails-to-trails system in Missouri is the Katy Trail, through central Missouri.
