The St. Louis Cardinals have added an ex-Yankee to their roster, signing free agent first baseman Tino Martinez to a three-year, 21-million dollar contract yesterday. Martinez hit .280 last season with New York with 34 home runs. But he became expendable after the Yankees signed free agent Jason Giambi. The Cardinals will count on Martinez to replace Mark McGwire’s bat in the line-up.
